Today, Niantic announced a new Pokémon GO event. This time, the event is called “Animation Week 2020” where various events themed around Pokémon Journeys: The Series will be happening. These events are tied to Ash and Goh, the characters in the anime. Not to mention, Lugia is finally getting Aeroblast!

Shiny Lugia looks so awesome! Excited to get one with Aeroblast!

There are no new shinies announced at this time, but Lugia can be shiny, so that’s an important note. Anyway, the envent runs from Thursday, Nov. 5 to Monday, Nov. 16 at 1:00 PM PST.

The biggest features can be summed up as:

• World Cap Pikachu appearing in the wild. Shiny available.
• Lugia returning as the legendary raid boss with Aeroblast (this is a good move!).
• Ivysaur, Pinsir, Snorlax, Golurk and a few others will be joining raids.
• Bulbasaur, Exeggcute, Cubone, Scyther, Dratini, Cyndaquil and others in the wild.
• Pichu, Mantyke, Riolu, and Cubone from 7k eggs
• Timed Research will be available (details forthcoming)
• Goh in Snapshots and new clothes inspired by his design.

They mention that we’ll be lucky to encounter Shiny Cubone, but it has been released before, so we’re unsure if that indicates greater odds. Either way, should be a fun event! I’m especially looking forward to Shiny Lugia with Aeroblast.
